ICAI Announcement:

Sub.: Relaxation in the eligibility criteria for Direct Entry Students registering from 1st July, 2017 to 31st July, 2017 for appearing in May, 2018 Intermediate Examination under Revised Examination

Under the New Scheme of Education and Training, the eligibility criteria for Direct Entry Students is to complete Nine Months of Practical Training after undergoing Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) Course.

It has been observed that Students will face hardship in completing nine months of Practical Training because they have to undergo four weeks ICITSS and thereafter commence their Practical Training latest by 1st August, 2017 so as to be eligible to appear in May, 2018 exam.

In order to mitigate hardships as will be faced by the students who will register for Intermediate Course during 1st July, 2017 to 31st July, 2017 through Direct Entry Route [under regulation 28F (4)], the Council has decided to allow them to appear in May, 2018 Intermediate Examination after undergoing Four weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) and completing eight months of Practical Training instead of nine months on the first day of the month, i.e. May 2018 and passed below resolution:

“Resolved that by virtue of powers vested under Regulation 205 of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, the Council of the Institute hereby orders that students who register for Intermediate Course during 1st July, 2017 to 31st July, 2017 through Direct Entry Route [under regulation 28F (4)]shall be eligible for admission to the Intermediate examination after undergoing Four weeks ICITSS and completing eight months of Practical Training instead of nine months under Regulation 50 on the first day of the month i.e May 2018”
