SURAT: A 22-year-old chartered accountancy (CA) student was found hanging at his residence on Friday in Tadwadi of Rander. He was shifted to hospital in critical condition where he was declared dead. Preliminary police investigation revealed that the student ended life due to poor performance in CA exam.

The deceased was identified as Manav Shah. His family members spotted him from a window when he did not open the door after knocking it several times on Friday afternoon. The family members broke open the door with the help of neighbours and shifted Manav to a nearby hospital, but he was declared brought dead.

Manav was a brilliant student and was worried about his performance in the CA final exam in which he recently appeared. He had cleared first part of CA final and he recently appeared in second part that ended on November 16.

After the exam Manav used to tell his family members that his performance was not very good, family members informed the police. Police did not find any suicide note from the spot.

On Friday afternoon Manav’s mother and sister went to government employment office to register Manav and his sister’s name. They later went out for some other work and returned home at around 3 pm. Since Manav did not open the door, they opened a window from outside and found Manav hanging.

Manav’s father Jayesh work as supervisor with a real estate firm.

“The boy was upset due to poor performance in exam and was telling his mother repetitively. He feared that he would not be able to clear the exam,” the police said.
